Quickly confronted with the reality behind the scenes - the bickering, petty jealousies, vindictiveness and corruption - his illusions are shattered. His elder colleague, the tailor Sowa, finds himself targeted by an hysterical actor, and socio-political organizations in the theater want to use Romek against Sowa. 为了探望患病的母亲（金成铃 饰），金书妍（朴信惠 饰）返回了家乡。自从父亲死后，金书妍和母亲之间的关系跌落到了冰点，她认为母亲应给对父亲的死负全责。金书妍不小心将手机落在了火车上，无奈之中，她只得暂时用家中的一台固定电话和外界联系。 　　一天，电话响了，在电话另一头的，是一位名叫吴英淑（全钟瑞 饰）的女孩。很快，金书妍就发现，这台电话似乎拥有穿越时间的特使能力，而吴英淑并非和自己生活在同一时代，而是十年前生活在这幢房子里的某个女孩。根据吴英淑的叙述，她被信奉邪教的母亲（李艾 饰）囚禁在家中，过着生不如死的日子，随着时间的推移，两个女孩之间逐渐建立起了友谊。而金书妍亦发现，就在不久之后，十年前的吴英淑将会葬身火海。

一通电话让来自过去和现在的两个女人产生了奇妙的联系，并引发了一场改变未来的危险游戏...她们将渐渐难以自拔。

故事发生在1978年美国科罗拉多州的一座小镇中，芬尼（梅森·泰晤士 Mason Thames 饰）是生活在那里的一名少年。芬尼有一个妹妹名叫格温（玛德琳·麦格劳 Madeleine McGraw 饰），两人的母亲在早年间去世了，如今，他们兄妹两人和性格暴躁的父亲（杰瑞米·戴维斯 Jeremy Davies 饰）过着相依为命的日子。 　　小镇上接连发生了5起儿童失踪的案件，在犯罪现场均留下了黑色的气球。谁也没有想到，芬尼成为了绑架犯的下一个目标。当芬尼从昏迷中醒来时，发现自己被囚禁在了地下室中，地下室的墙上有一台断了线的古董电话，神奇的是，这台电话竟然响了。电话那头的，是曾经被绑架犯残忍杀害的孩子们，他们决定用他们各自的力量，来帮助芬尼死里逃生。

讲述一个被绑架的孩子在囚禁他的地下室中发现了一部古董电话，尽管电话线已经断了，但是到了晚上，他总能接到来自异界的电话。

岩手县大槌町是东日本大地震的重灾区，全城遭海啸摧毁，1200余人死亡或失踪。 　　在俯瞰大海的山丘上的庭院里，矗立着一座奇怪的电话亭，名叫“风的电话”。电话亭中，有一台没有接线的黑色电话机，还有一本笔记簿。 　　盼望能和在震灾中死亡或下落不明的家人、朋友再次交谈的人们，来到这个电话亭，拿起听筒进行“通话”。笔记簿里，缀满了无数来访者的心声。 　　东日本大地震已过去五年，灾区复兴正在逐步推进，但仍有很多人沉陷在丧失亲人的痛苦中而无法自拔。对于那些难以启齿诉说痛楚的人来说，风的电话成了他们重要的精神支柱。 　　本片在风的电话亭进行长期跟踪采访，了解这五年中，来访者是如何度过每一天的，而在迎来五周年的此刻，他们又想对听筒那一边的亲人诉说些什么，打算如何迈出新的一步。通过海边的这个小小电话亭，关注灾区民众五年间的丧失和新生。
